Preeminent real photo postcard of five great vintage era golfers on a Massachusetts course (3.25x5.25"). Could be an early open. All five golfers are from Scotland or England. From left to right: 1) Willie Anderson was an immigrant from Scotland and won four U.S. Opens. Anderson's three in a row from 1903-1905 remain the only time that was accomplished. A member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, Anderson for a short time in the late 1890s was the golf pro at the Golf Club of Lakewood, New Jersey. 2) Gilbert Nicholls was an English born golfer who later lived in the United States. He had eight top-ten finishes in U.S. Opens. 3) Herbert Strong was born in England and later moved to America. His best finish was taking 9th place at the U.S. Open in 1913. He was one of the founders of the PGA of America. He also become a noted golf designer, stating that a designer should, "Build natural beauty into every possible feature of play." 4) Fred McLeod was yet another golfer born in Scotland who moved to the United States. He won the 1908 U.S. Open played at the Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. 5) Jack "Jock" Hutchinson was also a Scottish golfer who immigrated to the United States. He won the U.S. PGA championship in 1920 and the British Open in 1921. Very minor paper loss along the right edge, otherwise Excellent condition. SGC GRADE A.
