Wonderful Wooden keepsake. Color photo (8x10") of Coach John Wooden addressing his team. John Wooden was known as the "Wizard of Westwood" as he took the U.C.L.A. basketball team to 10 NCAA Championship in a 12-year span and a record 7 consecutive National Championships. But Wooden was not so much a wizard as a wonderful teacher of basketball. He coached at U.C.L.A. from 1948/49 through 1974/75. Often revered by former players, such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Bill Walton, Wooden created his well-known "Pyramid of Success", a complex pyramid-like chart emphasizing not basketball, but values, such as honesty, hard-work, initiative, cooperation and responsibility. The photo shows Wooden kneeling amidst his U.C.L.A. Bruins, giving instruction. Using psychology that was ahead of his time, Wooden never told the players to "win". Instead, he always gave them the goal of "playing at your best." The result? They almost always won anyway. Photo is mounted on a 11x14 green backing. Signed "John Wooden UCLA". Great photo of a master at his work. PSA certified.
