Beautiful kimono, the size that could be a men's small today. From the Nippon Baseball Kimono Collection, an important collection of baseball and other sports-themed kimonos recently discovered in Japan and imported into the United States. Compiled over many decades, they are the finest we have seen. Players in action poses are featured on the kimono, and the players represent the two biggest rivals in hotly contested Japanese college baseball: Waseda and Keio Universities. Babe Ruth was famously photographed in a kimono in American baseball's famous 1934 tour of Japan. Was Ruth's kimono as fine as this? Wonderful colors featuring brown, tan, and a touch of dark blue. Beautiful images are repeated numerous times on the kimono: A scoreboard, a victory trophy, a baseball batter following through, and players pitching and catching. A few small holes which do not substantially detract from overall appearance. Excellent appearance.
