This minor league franchise resided in both the Western Association and Western League. The cream-colored, five button-down, heavy wool jersey is a period beauty displaying "Jayhawks" (with a jayhawk perched on a branch) across the chest, all sewn-on in light blue chenille atop red chain-link. Other fabulous design elements include blue standup collar, three-quarter sleeves with blue sleeve cuff trim, and blue piping adorning the collar and button path. A Reach tag in the collar dates the garment to the 1920s. Reach manufactured many of the Major League uniforms during this period. Its presence, as such, along with the grade of wool and the quality of the workmanship, tells us that this was a "Big League grade" uniform. While this exemplar exhibits wear from game use and a century of aging (including some staining and moth holes), it is still in remarkable condition considering its vintage and is imbued with tremendous aesthetic beauty and display appeal.
