Addendum:  The bottom border of this cabinet card is missing. Extremely rare 1902 W600 Sporting Life cabinet card (5.13x6.13") of Edward J. Delehanty. The W600 set was issued between 1902 and 1911, and was one of the best cabinet card sets ever produced. This particular card was issued in 1902 or possibly early 1903. Ed Delahanty, primarily an outfielder, was one of a record-setting number of brothers (five) who all played in the major leagues; In addition to Ed, brothers Frank, Joe, Jim, and Tom appeared in the big leagues. Delahanty was one of baseball's early power hitters; he led the National League in homers twice and also won two National League batting titles, and hit over .400 three times. He played for the Philadelphia Quakers and Philadelphia Phillies, the Cleveland Infants, and the Washington Senators. Ed Delahanty died under mysterious circumstances. He fell, jumped or was pushed from the International Railway Bridge near Niagara Falls, and died in the Niagara River or by being swept over Niagara Falls. Stories vary widely. Because his death that remains cloaked in mystery even today, this cabinet card, already issued when he died, was not issued for a long period after his death. This makes the card especially rare. The cabinet card has extremely slight corner wear and very minor edge wear, with one minute smudge.
