Displayed is a 1979 Elrod Hendricks Baltimore Orioles game worn coaches' jersey. As a player, Hendricks was a catcher who had three separate tours of duty with Baltimore: (1968-72, 1973-76, and 1978-79). He also played for the Chicago Cubs and the New York Yankees. He batted a career .220, mostly as a backup catcher. He played in four World Series. In '97, the Orioles finished in first place in the AL East with a 98-64 record, and the team lost in the ALCS to the Cleveland Indians, 4-2 in games. The offered mesh jersey is black with orange and white trim. Across the chest is Orioles in sewn-on orange script with black and orange trim. Two black buttons go down the front. The collar has a Russell Athletic manufacturer's tag, with the size listed as 44. The left sleeve has an Oriole avian logo and a Baltimore 200th Anniversary patch. The right sleeve has a beautiful, multi-colored "Jackie Robinson 1947-1997 50th (Anniversary) Breaking Barriers" patch. Also, the right sleeve has a Russell Athletic logo. On back is a black, sewn-on nameplate with HENDRICK in orange, sewn-on letters, with black and white trim. Under the nameplate is 44 in sewn-on orange letters with black and white trim. The jersey has some loose orange threads near the end of each sleeve, but overall, the jersey shows wear but is in overall nice condition.
