Presented is the opportunity to possess a real treat for any music aficionado: A Louis Armstrong cut signature and inscription, with the inscription including Armstrong's use of his "Satchmo" nickname. Armstrong, a cornetist, trumpeter, and vocalist, was born in New Orleans in 1907, and he rose from an improvised youth to become a jazz legend, and one of the greatest entertainers in American history. After beginning his performing career in New Orleans, sometimes on riverboats, Armstrong spent a considerable time in Chicago in his early performing years, then he moved to New York City, becoming a figure in the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s. Armstrong was a major jazz innovator, one who championed the improvisational style of long solos on instruments. His phrasing, both on cornet/trumpet and while singing was unique in its use of syncopation and intentional slurring of notes. Armstrong performed for over five decades. He won a Grammy Award for his performance as Best Male Vocalist on the recording of Hello, Dolly! (1965). A few of his other hit recordings: What a Wonderful World, When the Saints Go Marching In, and three recordings with singer Ella Fitzgerald. He is a member of the National Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame. The offered cut signature is on a piece of paper or card stock measuring approx. 2.2x4.1". Using blue ink from a ballpoint pen, Armstrong neatly inscribed and signed "Best Wishes From (Satchmo) Louis Armstrong." The offering has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA Certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
