Displayed is the vintage autograph of the famed, Knighted British actor, Sir Alec Guinness. Guinness was born in London in 1914, and in a long stage career, spanning 1934-89, he played 77 roles. In World War II he served at sea in a variety of positions, including that of lieutenant. He won a Tony Award for his Broadway portrayal of Dylan Thomas in Dylan. In the movies, he won the Academy Award for his role as Colonel Nicholson in the film A Bridge on the River Kwai. He was one of Britain's most illustrious actors, and his famous film roles included Laurence of Arabia, Doctor Zhivago, and as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars Trilogy. He was skilled in playing a variety of roles, sometimes in the same movie, a technique carried on by Peter Sellers, who grew up as an admirer of the acting techniques of Guinness, who passed away in 2000. The offering is on a piece of paper or light card stock measuring 2.4x4". The piece containing the offering is affixed to a larger piece of paper or card stock measuring 3.4x4.75". Using what appears to be a fine tip black marker, Guinness signed and inscribed as "Your's (sic) Sincerely Alec Guinness/1964." At the bottom of the larger paper or card stock is, ALEC GUINNESS, made on small, plastic strips by a labeler, by an unknown person. The cut signature and inscription has been encapsulated, and the autograph has been PSA/DNA Certified as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
