Displayed is a 1960s Montgomery Clift (d.1966) vintage cut autograph, signed late in the life of the famed movie star. Clift, born in 1920, studied "Method Acting" in New York, and along with Marlon Brando and James Dean, was one of the rising stars emanating from The Actors' Studio in NYC. Clift was a successful stage actor in New York from a young age. As an actor in films, he made 17 pictures and received four Academy Award nominations. Some of his most famous films: A Place in the Sun (1951), From Here to Eternity (1953), Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), and The Misfits (1961). While filming Raintree County in 1956, Clift was involved in a terrible automobile accident that resulted in a concussion, broken bones, and severe facial injuries that required plastic surgeries. The left side of his face was permanently left as almost immobile. He continued his movie career, but developed addictions that affected his health and shortened his life. The autograph, signed in blue ballpoint as Monty Clift, is on an approx. 2x4" piece of paper or card stock. The cut signature has been encapsulated, and it has a PSA/DNA Certified AUTO GRADE of NM-MT 8.
