Joe Morgan was only 5'7", 160 lbs., but the Hall of Fame second baseman was a superb five-tool player. Offered is a game issued Joe Morgan bat from 1980-83. Morgan had a 22-year Major League career: Houston Astros (1965-71 & '80), Cincinnati Reds (1972-79), San Francisco Giants (1981-82), Philadelphia Phillies (1983), Oakland Athletics (1984). The 10-time All-Star was a 5-time Gold Glove winner. He batted .271 lifetime, with 268 home runs and 689 steals. Morgan was a key part of Cincinnati's Big Red Machine, and when the Reds won the 1975 and '76 World Series, Morgan was the regular season NL MVP both years. Joe was with Houston in '80, San Francisco in 1981-82, and Philadelphia in '83, so the bat could have been game issued in any of those years. The offered bat is a 125 Louisville Slugger. On the barrel is etched: "GENUINE M253/Joe Morgan/LOUISVILLE SLUGGER." On the knob is "8," in black marker by an unknown hand. The bat has a length of 34.25", and it weighs 30.5 ounces. There are small scratch marks in various places on the sides and end of the barrel, and a small black stain and a tiny nick, on the knob. Overall, the bat is in fine condition.
