Kevin Mitchell was a left fielder and third baseman who played 13 Major League seasons. Presented is a 1994 Kevin Mitchell Cincinnati Reds' game worn gray, short-sleeved, away jersey, with red pinstripes. Mitchell's Major League teams: New York Mets (1984 & 1986), San Diego Padres (1987), San Francisco Giants (1987-91), Cincinnati Reds (1993-94 & 1996), Boston Red Sox (1996), Cleveland Indians (1997), Oakland Athletics (1998). He batted a career .284, with 234 home runs and 760 RBIs. In the 1986 World Series, Mitchell's pinch hit single in the bottom of the 10th inning, with two out and Gary Carter on first base, kept the Mets alive and the New Yorkers eventually won the game and then won Game 7 to become World Champions. Mitchell had his best season in 1989, with the San Francisco Giants: he was the NL MVP, batted .291, and led the league in home runs (47), RBI (125), slugging (.635), OPS (1.023), and total bases (345). In '94, when Mitchell game wore this jersey, he batted .326, with 30 home runs and 77 RBIs. The offered jersey is all original and shows nice use. Across the chest is "Cincinnati" in red sewn-on block letters with white trim. A red number 7 with white trim is sewn on under the team name. Six silver-gray buttons run down the front. On the left front outside tail are four tags: 1) Russell Athletic as manufacturer. 2) Diamond Collection/MLB, with size 48. 3) Property of Cincinnati Reds 94. 4) 100% polyester. A red and white Reds patch is sewn on the left sleeve. Across the top back is "MITCHELL" in red block, sewn-on letters with white trim. Under the player's name is 7 in a sewn-on red numeral with white trim. The right sleeve sports a Russell sewn-on logo. The jersey is in EXCELLENT condition. What makes this extra special is the 1869 Red Stockings' patch on the right sleeve; this was worn for the 125th Anniversary of professional baseball. Only the Reds wore the patch with the 1869 team on it.
