Presented is the opportunity to possess an extensive program, scorecard, and related items collection of 80+ entries, a collection that is overwhelmingly made up of programs and scorecards from playoff and championship games, including the program (missing four pages) from what retrospectively became known as Super Bowl II. Super Bowl II was known at the time, as printed on the cover of the game program, as the "AFL vs. NFL 1968 World Championship Game." The Green Bay Packers won the 1968 game, for the championship of the 1967 season, as they defeated the Oakland Raiders 33-14. Green Bay, under the great Hall of Fame coach Vince Lombardi, had also won the first AFL vs. NFL Championship game, defeating the Kansas City by 35-10. Hall of Fame Packers quarterback Bart Starr was the MVP in both games. There are 12 pages that are intact and in their proper place in the program, but that have come loose from staples. Also included is the 1975 program from Super Bowl IX, which matched the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings. An unusual item for the New York Mets is the program from the 1970 New York Baseball Writers' 47th Annual Dinner, which highlights the New York Mets' miracle run to the World's Championship. A particularly poignant program is from the 1972 NL Championship Series between the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds, the last set of games in which Roberto Clemente would appear before losing his life on New Year's Eve that year in a plane crash while on a rescue mission to bring supplies to victims of an earthquake in Nicaragua. A few of the other items: The 1966 Baseball All-Star Game program; the 1976 NL Championship Series program, featuring the Cincinnati Reds' "Big Red Machine"; The program for the 1991 Kentucky Derby; The 1988 U.S. Open (Golf) Program; The 1986 World Series program, when the New York Mets defeated the Boston Red Sox. Although the collection contains over 80 items, some of the items include counted duplicates, for example, there are ten (10) 1994 Stanley Cup Finals Programs between the eventual Stanley Cup Champions, the New York Rangers, and Vancouver Canucks. The offering also includes NCAA Tournament programs, a 1965 New York Yankees Official Spring Training Guidebook - Program, 1971 Al Championship Series Program (2), the 1981 NL Championship Series Program (2), 1979 World Series program, 1976 AL Championship Series program, the 1982 AL Championship Series program, 1990 AL Championship Series program, 1960 New York Yankees Yearbook, 1990 New York Football Giants Yearbook, a November 1948 copy of Sir! that includes an article on the recent passing of Babe Ruth. There is also a 1968 New York Mets Yearbook. An unusual item is a hardcover, 108-page children's book, written by sportswriter Dan Daniel, titled Babe Ruth/The Idol of the American Boy. Although there are from 2-5 copies of a few programs and scorecards, most of the offerings are not duplicated. The condition of the offerings varies - some are in excellent condition, while others show wear. There is plenty here to interest any collector.
