New York Yankees cap worn by second baseman Chuck Knoblauch during the 1998 World Series. The navy wool cap features the team's NY logo embroidered in white on the front and a special 1998 World Series patch on the left side. The number "39" (in honor of Darryl Strawberry, who was diagnosed with colon cancer before the start of the Series) is embroidered in white on the back of the cap. Knoblauch's uniform number 11 is written in black marker on the underside of the brim. Located on the interior sweatband are a New Era label, an MLB Authentic Diamond Collection label, and a 7 1/8 size tag. The cap displays moderate wear, including soiling along the the headband. Knoblauch batted .375 with a home run and 3 RBI in the Yankees' four-game sweep of the Padres in the 1998 World Series, thereby solidifying the club's status as one of the greatest teams of all time.
