Displayed is a 1981 Al Bumbry Baltimore Orioles' game used, away gray jersey. Bumbry played 14 Major League seasons: Baltimore Orioles (1972-84) and San Diego Padres (1985). Bumbry served in the U.S. Army as a platoon leader in Vietnam, and he was awarded a Silver Star. His path to the Major Leagues was slowed because of his military service, and he did not make the Majors until he was 25 years old. He batted a career .281, with 1,422 hits and 254 stolen bases. He was the 1973 AL Rookie of the Year when he hit .337 with 23 steals. In 1983, When Bumbry game wore this jersey, he batted .273, with 23 steals, and that year he went on to be an AL All-Star and a member of the Orioles' World Champions. Bumbry's fine speed helped make him an excellent leadoff hitter and a center fielder with nice range. The jersey is polyester or a polyester blend. Across the chest is "Orioles" in sewn-on orange script with black trim. The left chest has Bumbry's number 1, in an orange sewn-on numeral with black trim. Six silver-gray buttons go down the front. The right tail underside has a Rawlings manufacturer's tag that shows size "38." An adjacent tag reads, "SET 1 1981." The back has a gray sewn-on nameplate reading "BUMBRY" in orange block sewn-on letters with black trim. Beneath the nameplate is 1, in an orange sewn-on numeral with black trim. Bumbry's signature is on the front, near his number. Bumbry signed in fine tip black marker, in an 8/10 neat signature. The jersey shows light wear. It has a few minuscule stains, but it is in overall EXCELLENT condition.
