Nice bronze statue commemorating New York Knicks guard John Starks earning the 1997 NBA Sixth Man of the Year award. Stands 14" tall from base to top of head; rectangular wood base measures 10x5.5x2" (note that there is no plate on the base), with the statue portion atop depicting Starks in Knicks uniform dribbling with his left hand. Exceptional detail highlights this 14-pound masterpiece, which was commissioned by the consignor for Jim Calcagno to commemorate Starks winning the award. Only three were created; one copy is at his High School, one is in a private collection, and this very example. Starks was a true example of the "6th Man" in 1997, starting just one of his 77 games played while still contributing 13.8 points per game. Perhaps his biggest career moment is inscribed in New York Knicks folklore, with "The Dunk" in Game 2 of the 1993 Eastern Conference Finals, as he drove the baseline and elevated to seemingly-impossible lengths to throw down a slam over formidable Chicago Bulls foes Michael Jordan and Horace Grant.
