Displayed is a 1957 Alex Kellner Kansas City Athletics' flannel game worn all original home white, short-sleeved jersey. Kellner was a southpaw pitcher who pitched for 12 seasons in the Major Leagues: Philadelphia/Kansas City Athletics (1948-58), Cincinnati Reds (1948), St. Louis Cardinals (1959). Usually a starting pitcher, he had a lifetime 101-112 record, with a 4.41 ERA. His best season was in '48 when he went 20-12 for Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics. In '57, when Kellner wore this jersey, he had a 6-5 record, with a 4.27 ERA. Across the chest is "Athletics," in red sewn-on script with Navy blue trim. Six silver-colored buttons run down the front. The left sleeve has an original Athletics "Elephant" sewn-on logo patch. The right outside tail has a Wilson manufacturer's tag showing size 44. On the front lower midline is an embroidered tag, using blue thread, that reads, "1-57-20," indicating the first uniform issue for 1957 and KELLNER'S NUMBER 20. The back has 20 in red sewn-on numerals with Navy blue trim. The jersey is a rare style to find all original, and it shows fine use, but it is also in nice condition.
