Collection of thirty-two photographs, each capturing New York Yankees Hall of Fame centerfielder Joe DiMaggio. These photos originate from the personal collection of a former Boston sportswriter, who acquired most of them from either his newspaper's photo department, or the New York Yankees public relations department. Many are news photos (including wire photos, where the caption is embedded in the photograph), but publicity photos are also present. The vast majority capture DiMaggio off the field during his post-playing career (including his retirement announcement) or at various New York Yankees Old Timers Day events. Approximately seventy-five percent of the photos measure either 7x9" or 8x10", with the remainder either slightly smaller or larger. Because most are news photos, many display flaws consistent with their former use, including, but not limited to, trimming, creasing, crazing, edge tears, editorial shading and/or markings, pinholes, and writing on the reverse. Please note: none of the photos have been evaluated by PSA, therefore no guarantees are made regarding specific Type designations, however, we believe the majority are NOT Type I examples.
