Collection of seven large-format Mickey Mantle black-and-white photographs, each measuring approximately 11x14 inches. These photos originate from the personal collection of a former Boston sportswriter, who acquired most of them from either his newspaper's photo department, or the New York Yankees public relations department. Three of the photos picture Mantle at bat during a game, two picture him crossing the plate after a home run and one captures him on the field with Joe DiMaggio at spring training. The final image pictures a dejected Mantle being counseled by Ty Cobb during a Yankees Old Timers' Day game in 1958. All the photos bear a New York Yankees credit stamp on the reverse, with three also featuring a LIFE magazine credit stamp. Because these photos were all meant for publication, many display flaws consistent with their former use, including, but not limited to, creasing, crazing, edge tears, and editorial markings/writing on the reverse.
