Incredible Pittsburgh Penguins jersey rates as one of the very best of its kind extant - a Sidney Crosby jersey from when he really was "Sid the Kid" as an 18-year-old in his 2005-06 rookie season. Black and Vegas gold Penguins home top has CCM size 54 tag in the collar with "87 A" written on in marker, skating penguin crest on chest, Penguins chevron patch on each sleeve, assistant captain's A (yes, as a rookie) on left breast, number 87 on front, shoulders and back, and name on a plate above rear number, all in white-on-black-and-gold tackle twill. Cutting Edge Spots Pittsburgh Penguins Sydney Crosby special tag is sewn inside tail, jersey is all-original and outstanding use includes pilling, stick marks, color transfers, minor burns, and loose threads. Photo-matched to home games on Feb. 4th - career goal #26, March 1st, March 4th (1 assist), and March 11th - career goals #30 & 31 and may have been worn in more. March 11th was one of just six games in which Crosby scored two goals in one game during his rookie season; this was game worn for a total of at least 3 goals, 2 assists. Already tabbed as a phenom during his time in the Canadian Junior Leagues, the Penguins - who had fallen on hard times with Mario Lemieux's career winding down - captured "The Kid" with the first pick in the 2005 draft and he rewarded them with a 102-point rookie campaign, becoming the youngest player in NHL history to eclipse 100 points. Currently in his 19th season, Crosby has led the Pens to three Stanley Cups, and was named as one of the NHL's Top 100 all-time players in 2018. At this writing, he is well within reach of the 600-career-goal plateau, reached by only 20 players in league history, and his credentials are already more than ample for inclusion into the Hall of Fame upon his retirement. Truly historical jersey worn at the start of his career by one of the best to ever skate the ice. Comes with photo-match images.
