Rare Philadelphia Phillies ticket stub from the final game of the season on September 30, 1951, in which Jackie Robinson's home run in the 14th inning gave the Dodgers a victory and first-place tie with the New York Giants, thereby forcing a three-game playoff. Graded GOOD 2 by PSA. This is the ONLY example of this ticket stub listed in the PSA Population Report and the first we have ever seen, let alone offered. The Dodgers and Giants entered the final game of the 1951 season tied for first and Robinson's extra-inning home run against the Phillies, which gave the Dodgers a 9-8 win, was crucial because the Giants withstood a ninth-inning rally by the Boston Braves and won their game 3-2. The three-game playoff between the Dodgers and Giants ended with one of the most dramatic walk-off home runs in baseball history as Bobby Thomson's "Shot Heard Round the World" gave the Giants the win in the third and final game. The ticket stub (1.5x3") displays a few very light creases.
