Game used Official Major League (Manfred) baseball was fired by Shohei Ohtani for career strikeout #156 and one of his eight strikeouts against the Oakland Athletics on July 19, 2021. Ball shows light discoloration from being rubbed up for game prep as Ohtani fanned Ramon Laureano swinging in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Shotime was at his dazzling best, yielding just three hits and one walk before he was pulled after six scoreless innings. Unfortunately, his Angels were also unable to score, and Laureano would exact a measure of revenge in the 7th with a 3-run homer to spark the A's to a 4-1 victory. Though he won't be pitching this season - in his crisp new Los Angeles Dodgers uniform - this ball is from one of Ohtani's 608 strikeouts to date in just four full seasons, and when he makes his expected return to the hill in 2025, the sky's the limit for the most dynamic two-way player in baseball's modern era and perhaps all time.
