Collection of three original portrait photographs, taken by noted Boston baseball photographer Carl Horner, each picturing a different Cincinnati Reds player: Harry Steinfeldt, Bob Ewing, and Jimmy Sebring. The images of both Steinfeldt and Ewing should be especially familiar to card collectors, as they were featured on several card issues during the early 1900s. The last names of Steinfeldt and Ewing have been scripted in pencil on the front and reverse of their respective photos, while Sebring's name appears on the front only. A number, applied in white paint, appears in the lower left corner of each photo. The image of Steinfeldt and Ewing can be found on Horner's 1904 National League team composite (the portrait of Sebring on that piece is a different photo), as well as several card issues. Steinfedt's image is featured on his T206 White Border tobacco card, his 1908 Rose Postcard, and his 1909 Ramley tobacco card. Ewing's image is featured on his 1909 Ramley tobacco card, his 1909 Rose Postcard, his 1906 WG3 Fan Craze card, and his 1910 M116 Sporting Life card. The fact that each player has a number written on his photo suggests that these photos were either once part of a larger team composite, or were used to create a real-photo postcard or similar team print (the number would correspond with the player's printed name on the piece.) Each photo (approximately 3.25x5") has been removed from its original mount and displays both areas of paper loss and paper residue on the reverse as a result of that removal. As such, they also display irregular borders and a few light creases. It should be noted that because they have paper residue on the reverse, PSA will not accept these photos for Type evaluation.
