Vintage photograph capturing five members of the 1915 Boston Red Sox pitching staff posing together on field, including rookie hurler Babe Ruth. PSA has encapsulated the photo and certified it as Type II Authentic. As noted in the accompanying LOA from PSA, this photo was produced from the original George Grantham Bain negative in the 1940s by Culver Pictures. As such, it displays all the clarity and quality of a Type I example. Collectors should also be aware that very few Type I examples of this photo have surfaced (all are slightly different due to the position of the respective cameramen), making this example the next best option for those wishing to obtain a high-quality Ruth rookie photograph. The five Red Sox pitchers captured here, left to right, are Rube Foster, Carl Mays, Ernie Shore, Babe Ruth, and Dutch Leonard. Two "Culver Pictures Inc." credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with the names of each respective player written in pencil. 1915 marked Ruth's first full season in the Major Leagues and he quickly established himself as one of the team's top pitchers, finishing the year with an 18-8 record and 2.44 ERA. And, as a foreshadowing of things to come, Ruth also led the club in home runs with 4, despite having only 92 plate appearances. The photo (10x8") displays heavy creasing along the border areas, a small stain in the upper left quadrant (not affecting any of the player images) and editorial notations in the white border areas.
