"Big Poison" was his nickname, and although Paul Waner only stood 5'8.5" tall and weighed 165 lbs., the Hall of Fame outfielder was certainly Big Poison to his opponents. Presented is a signed Paul Waner photograph. Paul Waner, and his brother - Hall of Fame outfielder Lloyd "Little Poison" Waner - have the most hits by any brother combination in baseball history. Paul, with 3,152 hits, and Lloyd, with 2,459 hits, combined for 5,611 safe shots, more than the total of the three DiMaggio brothers or the three Alou brothers. Waner played 19 Major League seasons: Pittsburgh Pirates (1926-40), Brooklyn Dodgers (1941, 1943-44), Boston Braves (1941-42), New York Yankees (1944-45). Waner was a 3-time National League batting champ and a 2-time NL hits leader. He finished his Major League career with a lifetime batting average of .333, and he was the 1927 NL MVP. Waner wasn't a home run hitter, as he had only 113 career round-trippers, but he did have extra-base power, and he is tied with Larry "Chipper" Jones for the Major League consecutive game extra-base hit record at 14. The offered newspaper photo was in a scrapbook and cut out. The signed photo measures 4.5x6.25". The beautiful signature is in 9/10 blue pen. It has been encapsulated and PSA/DNA authenticated as AUTHENTIC AUTO.
