Bank check, dated January 4, 1980, made out to and endorsed by professional wrestling star David Von Erich. PSA has encapsulated the check and certified the signature as "Authentic." The check, in the amount if $3,433.02, was issued to Von Erich as payment for his appearance at one or more pro-wrestling events and has been signed on the front in blue ink (grading 9/10) by legendary wrestling promoter and former NWA president "Sam Muchnick." Endorsed on the reverse in blue ink twice by Von Erich, once with his real name of "David Adkisson" and again with his ring name of "David Von Erich." (for some reason, he crossed out his first "David Adkisson" signature). Both signatures grade 8/10 overall. David Von Erich signatures are rare because of his untimely death at the age of twenty-five in 1984.

A member of the famous Von Erich wrestling family, David was considered a top performer and began wrestling with the NWA in Missouri during the late 1970s/early 1980s. As his popularity grew, he traveled South, wrestling on the Florida circuit and then Texas, where he feuded with the Fabulous Freebirds and NWA champion Ric Flair. Sadly, Von Erich's highly anticipated title match with Ric Flair in April, 1984, never came to fruition because Von Erich died on February 10, 1984, while on tour in Japan. The official cause of death was acute enteritis, which resulted in ruptured intestines, but many of his close friends and family have cited other causes, including drugs and a heart attack. The check (8.25x3.25"), which has normal bank cancellation stamps on the front and reverse, displays three vertical folds, a few light creases, and a pinhole along the base.
