Presented is a cut signature of Ty Cobb. "Don't come home a failure," said Ty Cobb's father to him when the Hall of Famer wanted to play minor league ball. Cobb went off to the minors, but before he could make the Major Leagues the elder Cobb was killed by his wife with a shotgun blast, claiming she thought he was a prowler. The damaging effect of his father's mysterious death was one of the reasons that Cobb played baseball with a vengeance. And he certainly didn't come home a failure. Cobb played 24 Major League seasons, from 1905-28, all for the Detroit Tigers except for his final two years, with the Philadelphia Athletics. At one point, Cobb held both the all-time MLB record for hits (4,189) and stolen bases (897). Though both of the aforementioned records were eclipsed, Cobb still holds the MLB record for the highest lifetime batting average (.366). Cobb's signature is on a 1.5x2.5" piece of paper or card stock. Cobb signed in pencil. The signature is neatly written, and the cut signature has been encapsulated and has a PSA/DNA AUTO GRADE of MINT 9.
