Dennis Johnson is a Hall of Fame guard who played 14 seasons in the NBA. He played his first four seasons with the Seattle Supersonics, his next three years with the Phoenix Suns, and his final seven seasons with the Boston Celtics. Presented is a 1986-87 Dennis Johnson game worn Boston Celtics jersey. The Celtics' Red Auerbach obtained Johnson from the Phoenix Suns for the 1983-84 season because the Celtics couldn't seem to stop the Philadelphia 76ers' guard Andrew Toney in the playoffs, and Johnson was an outstanding defender. In addition, the 6'4" Johnson, who could play both guard positions, was asked to mainly be a point guard with the Celtics after having been mainly a shooting guard with Phoenix. Johnson helped the Celtics to two World Championships. For his career, Johnson was on three NBA Championship teams. With the Seattle Supersonics in 1978-79, Johnson helped the Supersonics to the NBA Championship, and he was named the NBA Finals MVP. Johnson averaged 14.1 PPG in his career, with 5.0 assists per game. He was named 9-times to the All-NBA First or Second All-Defensive Team. The green, sleeveless Celtic jersey has "CELTICS" in white block letters on the chest, and there is green and white trim around the shoulders. The left front shoulder strap has the NBA logo patch. A Sand-Knit manufacturer's tag on the outside lower left front tail reads, "Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the Boston Celtics." Under that tag is another Sand-Knit tag that shows the size as "44." The back of the jersey has "JOHNSON" sewn on in white block letters and the numeral "3," in a white sewn on numeral. The jersey shows great wear, with loose threads on the front and back.
