Presented is a rookie era (1988-89) bat of Chris Sabo, the former third baseman for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1988, rookie Sabo impressed the Cincinnati Reds' manager, Pete Rose, with his hustling style, and Sabo filled in for an injured Buddy Bell at third base. Sabo played so well that he became the National League Rookie-of-the-Year in 1988, as he hit .271, with 11 home runs and 46 stolen bases. 1989 was an off-season for Sabo, but he rebounded in 1990 to hit .270, with 25 home runs. In the World Series that season against the Oakland Athletics, he hit .583 to help Cincinnati to the World Championship. Sabo played nine years in the Major Leagues, seven of them with Cincinnati, and he batted .268 with 116 homers for his career. The bat is a Louisville Slugger Hillerich and Bradsby bat, model R205. It shows "Chris Sabo" burned into the barrel. A handwritten "17" is written on both the knob and the top of the barrel. The bat has a cracked handle, and it is 34" long and it has a weight of 32.6 ounces. Sabo has signed on the barrel. The bat exhibits good use.
