Presented is a limited-edition print of all-time hockey great Bobby Orr, caricatured by famous artist Jan Pelkowski, signed both by Hall of Famer Orr and Pelkowski. The colorful print has a copyright date of 1972, and by that time Bobby Orr was already a revolutionary superstar. Orr was revolutionary in that he transformed the way a defenseman could play hockey. Orr joined the Boston Bruins in 1966-67 as a rookie defenseman who ran the offense, much as a quarterback in football or a point guard in basketball. Orr repeatedly rushed up ice to join the attack in a way that had never been done before. He scored 13 goals and added 28 assists that season and won the Calder Trophy as the NHL Rookie of the Year. He led the Bruins to the Stanley Cup in 1969-70 as he won the Ross Trophy for leading the NHL in scoring as he notched 33 goals and added 87 assists for 120 points. He took the Bruins to another Stanley Cup in 1971-72. In his career, in addition to the Calder Trophy, he won the following awards: Norris Trophy as the NHL's best defenseman - 8-times; Hart Trophy as the league MVP - 3-times; The Ross Trophy as the NHL top scorer - 2-times; Smythe Trophy as the NHL play-off MVP - 2-times. Orr has inscribed and signed the print in neatly written script with a black marker. The inscription and signature read, "Best Wishes Bobby Orr." Pelkowski is well-known for his caricatures, including those of many hockey stars. The signed limited-edition print is hand-numbered, in the bottom left corner, as 13/150. Jan Pelkowski, who passed away earlier this year, has signed the print in the lower right corner. His works often "tell a story," and in this print Orr is looking up ice as the "happy" puck rests comfortably on Orr's stick - an original, visual way to portray Orr's amazing puck mastery. The print is framed at 11x14", and it is an unusual item that serves as a fine remembrance of a hockey legend.
