Offered is a circa October 20, 1924, photo of Babe Ruth posing in a ballpark with a Girl Scout representative, highly like the same one depicted on the poster held by the Babe. We believe that the photo is probably a Type III. The poster in the photo reads, in part, "Girl Scout Week Oct. 20-27/ 1924 Budget $439,703/New Home." The relaxed Babe is hatless and has a cigar in his mouth. The Babe is in his New York Yankee away uniform. The Yankees' 1924 season ended with the regular season as the Bronx Bombers finished second in the American League that season to the Washington Senators, the World Series winner that year. The photo could have been taken before the regular season was concluded, or it could have been taken post season when the Babe was barnstorming. In 1924, Ruth batted .342, with 46 home runs and 124 RBIs. The photo measures 8x10". The photo shows some a small rip on the left side, some markings from being stamped in the upper right corner, some partial paper loss in the upper left and right corners, some tearing and minor paper loss of the upper photo-like attachment, some residue of paper in the upper right corner, and some creasing along the left margin, but is in otherwise satisfactory condition, and it captures the Bambino in the good-natured, happy mood typical of him, as he was usually agreeable to pose for a photo, especially for a good cause.
