Offered are two 1970-71 NHL photo stamp albums, with each produced in conjunction with both the NHL Players' Association and Finast Stores, and both covers feature Hall of Famer Bobby Orr. Both albums are in approximately excellent condition, and they have no stamps inside. One is the typical album with "Finast" printed on the cover, and there is some light handwritten printing' reading "from Powers" on the top of the cover. The other album is a sample without "Finast" printed on the cover, and this sample also has a very rare advertising flier stapled inside the front cover. Each of the albums has the same cover color action photo of Bobby Orr. The Bruin defenseman scored 37 goals in 1970-71, and he added a league leading 102 assists for 139 points. The Bruins won the Stanley Cup in both the season before and the season after this 1970-71 campaign. The albums were designed to stimulate sales at Finast stores. The NHL had 14 teams at this time, and each week, a pack of 14 stamps, with one player stamp from each team, was available for only 15 cents with three dollars in purchases. The stamp packs changed each week for 16 weeks, so that a collector could obtain all 224 stamps, 16 per team, in 16 weeks. The individual stamps (not included) measure approximately 1.75x2.25". Each NHL team is allotted two pages. The team is reviewed as a whole in each two-page layout, and each space for a stamp also includes space for a brief biography. The albums are fine collectibles on their own, and they can also possibly be combined with stamps as well. Each album presents a valuable snapshot view of the NHL as it was over half-a-century ago.
