Impressive hockey trophy, issued annually between the years 1951 and 1967 to the most popular member of the New York Rangers hockey team, as chosen by the New York Rangers Fan Club. The trophy, which stands just over two-feet high (25"), features a statue of a hockey player  perched upon a metal cup, which in turn is mounted on a marble slab featuring a statue of a smaller hockey player at each corner. The marble slab is held aloft by five metallic pillars that are anchored to a large wooden base. The engraving on the cup reads "The Frank Boucher Trophy/Awarded Annually By The/New York Rangers Fan Club To/The Most Popular Ranger Player/On And Off The Ice." The plaque mounted on the wooden base lists the recipient of the award for each season between the years 1951 and 1967. Included are first recipient Don Raleigh, Andy Bathgate (five times), Lorne Worsley (three times), and Harry Howell (three times). Frank Boucher himself would probably have won this award had it been established during his playing career. Boucher starred with the Rangers from 1926 to 1944 before taking over as general manager and coach of the team. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958. The large hockey statue on the top and the four smaller hockey statues on the marble slab appear to be modern replacements, otherwise the trophy displays wear commensurate with its age and is in Excellent condition overall. Base: 7.5x7.5". Height: 25".
