Displayed is a road 1974 game worn uniform of Andre "Thunder" Thorton when he was a first baseman with the Chicago Cubs. Thorton had 303 at bats that season and hit 10 homers, with a batting average of .261. He also had an OBP of .360 and a slugging percentage of .452 that year, and he was named to the All-Rookie team for that season by Baseball Digest. The front of the gray road jersey has "Chicago" in blue block letters across the chest. Under that is the number "12" in blue. On the left sleeve is the Cub logo. On the back is the number "12" in blue numerals. In the neck is a "Wilson" tag that gives washing instructions and states size "44." Under the Wilson manufacturer's tag is a tag reading "12 74 1 44." On the left front outside tail is a tag that reads "74." The gray road pants have a blue waist band. On the rear part of the waistband is a Wilson manufacturer's tag. The tag indicates size "38" and gives washing instructions. Under the above tag is a smaller tag that has handwritten (25" ins. The knit pants have snap buttons in front and a plastic button each pocket. Thornton played 14 Major League seasons, with ten years as a Cleveland Indian, hitting .254 for his career, with 253 home runs. He won a Silver Slugger Award, and he was a 2-time All-Star. He split most of his 1,565 games roughly evenly between first base and DH. The uniform is in good condition, and a game worn Chicago Cub uniform adds interest to any collection.
