Offered is a game used 1977 Pittsburgh Steeler jersey from Tony Dungy - the player. Yes, Tony Dungy wasn't always a noted television commentator. And before that, he wasn't always the highly successful NFL head coach who won Super Bowl XLI with the Indianapolis Colts, the first African American head coach to win the NFL's ultimate game. Before the television work and his coaching, Dungy was an NFL player. He was a safety for two years with the Pittsburgh Steelers and then for a season with the San Francisco 49ers. Dungy only started two NFL games, but he played in 45 contests, and in a mostly back-up role, he intercepted nine passes, with six of the thefts coming in 1977, the year this jersey was game used. As a player, the versatile Dungy was even used in an emergency as the Steeler quarterback when both Terry Bradshaw and Mike Kruczek were injured. The front of the home white jersey has "21" in black numerals. Each sleeve also shows "21" in black numerals, and the front of the jersey also shows "21" in black numerals. Affixed to the neck is a Certificate of Authenticity from Steelers Authentic Memorabilia. The lower front tail has a designed and tailored Pittsburgh Steeler Sand-Knit tag, a Sand-Knit tag showing size "44", and a "74", tag. There is also a hologram. The jersey is in good condition, with some light game wear. The offering is an unusual item - as a memento from a famous coach and a well-known television commentator - from his lesser known playing days.
