Mickey Mantle hit 536 lifetime regular season home runs. Once, someone asked him if he ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. Mantle replied, "Only every time." Mickey loved going yard. The New York Yankees and the Brooklyn Dodgers were playing in Game Five of the 1953 World Series at Yankee Stadium. The Series was tied at two games each, and the Yankees led the Dodgers 2-1 in the bottom of the fourth. The bases were loaded. Mantle was facing right-hander Russ Meyer, so Mantle was hitting left-handed. Meyer threw a curve on the outside corner; Mantle went with the pitch and rocketed the ball into the left field stands to give the Yankees a 6-1 lead. New York won the game 11-7 and wrapped up the Series in the next game to win their fifth consecutive World Championship. The Type I original photo was issued by the New York Times, and the photo measures 7.5x10.25". The photo does have cracking, some minor paper loss, and a partial tear at the top center. Included with the original photo is the applicable PSA/DNA Letter of Authenticity certifying the photo as "TYPE I."
