The NFL Championship game in 1960 matched the home team Philadelphia Eagles against the Green Bay Packers. The rival football league, the American Football League, was playing its first season, but this was six years before the first Super Bowl. Played on the day after Christmas, the 1960 game started at noon on a Monday. A capacity crowd of 67,325 paid $8 or $10 a ticket to see the NFL's 28th championship game. The game was full of Hall of Famers - for Green Bay: Willie Davis, Forrest Gregg, Paul Hornung, Jerry Kramer, Ray Nitschke, Jim Ringo, Bart Starr, and Jim Taylor. For Philadelphia: Chuck Bednarik, Norm Van Brocklin, Tommy McDonald, and Sonny Jurgenson. The Eagles trailed, but in the fourth quarter, Ted Dean scored on a five-yard run, the extra point was good, and Philadelphia led 17-13. The Packers mounted a final drive. With seconds left, Bart Starr hit Jim Taylor with a pass deep in Eagle territory. Chuck Bednarik, who played both ways (center on offense, and linebacker on defense) tackled Taylor and sat on him so that he couldn't get up to run another play. When the final gun sounded, Bednarik said to Taylor, "You can get up now. This...game is over." The game marked the Eagles' third NFL Championship. The $8 ticket has been encapsulated by PSA NM 7.
