Original Type I photograph of Hall of Fame outfielder Zack Wheat as a member of the Brooklyn Superbas. Wheat is pictured striking a batting pose on the sideline prior to a game in 1913. This is an early image of Wheat, who debuted with Brooklyn just four years earlier in 1909. A Brown Bros. credit stamp appears on the reverse, along with Wheat's name and a few additional editorial markings. Although no year is listed, the uniform style shown here was used by Brooklyn only in 1913. The photo measures 3.25x5.5" and displays light creasing and a tiny tear in the area of Wheat's cap.
