Original Type I photograph picturing J. Bruce Ismay, chairman of the White Star Line, following his testimony at the Senate Inquiry investigating the Titanic disaster. Ismay was on board the Titanic during its maiden voyage and was the highest-ranking White Star official to survive the disaster. Because he escaped on one of the few life boats available, while so many other unfortunate passengers and crew perished, Ismay was vilified by the press, even though he was eventually cleared of any blame by the official British inquiry into the disaster. Two Brown Brothers credit stamps appear on the reverse, along with handwritten editorial notations. The photo measures 6x7.25” and displays a few small edge tears. VG. Culled from the legendary Brown Brothers Photo Archive. PSA encapsulated as Type I Authentic.
