Where to start with this amazing piece of football history. Before Jim Thorpe became the most noted member of the Carlisle Indian Industrial School, legendary coach Glenn "Pop" Warner put them on the map for another reason. This item is the program from the game where Carlisle employed the "hunch-back" or "hidden ball trick" to enrage rival Harvard. Originally meant as a mere stunt, the play turned into a 103-yard touchdown run. While the run would give the Indians an 11-0 lead, the heavily-favored Crimson would rally for a 12-11 win. The program measures 4.5x7.5" and is in beautiful original and unrestored condition. The inside of this two-fold card includes full player rosters with numbers, as well as the respective lineup for each team. Below the starters is a space to write down the numbers of the scorers, which someone has done neatly in pen, including the number "56" worn by Dillon, the man who scored the infamous touchdown. The cover includes the date and site of the game, along with the price of 10 cents, while the other side of the fold features a picture of the Crimson football team. This item is from an early collection and as fresh as a daisy.
