An original circa 1870s Arthur Chambers Boxing cabinet card. Chambers was born in 1846 and died in 1923. He served in the Royal Navy before becoming a professional boxer in 1864. In 1872, he became the Lightweight Champion of America and ultimately became a member of the Ring Magazine Hall of Fame and the International Boxing Hall of Fame. After boxing, he opened a successful saloon and was a financial backer of John L. Sullivan. The cabinet card measures 14x11". The card is in VG-EX condition with some overall toning and a 4-5" crease on left side of image. It is a great original item in remarkable condition for its age and rarity.
