In 1933, Goudey originally released its iconic Indian Gum set with only 24 cards, but when they saw the enormous popularity and potential of this issue, they quickly increased the size of the set – multiple times. In fact, while a complete Indian Gum set consists of only 216 different cards, if you include all the back and color variations, a master set comes out to an astounding 432 cards. Card fronts display brightly colored and artistically rendered depictions of Native American chiefs, warriors, generals, frontiersmen and Wild West figures, as well as native rituals, war tactics, and battles.The main difference between the sets is a line on the back that reads "this is one of a series of '#' cards,” which varies from #s 24, 48, 96, 192, 216, 264, 288, and 312.
