Framed autographed tribute to the historic 1897 Heavyweight Championship bout between Gentleman Jim Corbett and Bob Fitzsimmons. A photo of each boxer resides above its respective autograph cut, with Corbett's dated Nov 22/29 and inscribed, With Best Wishes, while Fitzsimmons has inscribed Yours Truly, along with The only Recognized Champion of the World, with each word double-underlined. Centering the compilation is a an unusual ticket stub; the fight was held on March 17, 1897, in Carson City, Nevada, but this stub lists the combatants along with "Florida Athletic Club" and "Dallas, Texas," along with the date of October 31, 1895, all struckthrough in red. A fight between the two men is known to have been scheduled to occur on October 31, 1895 in Texas but was prevented, and this ties in with that thwarted event. Full nicely-framed piece measures 24x17" and remains in NM condition; autographs remain clear and rate 7-8/10. This fight was immortalized in what is considered to be the first full-length feature film, with fragments still in existence. Comes with PSA LOA.
