Amazing vintage 1889 New York Baseball Club "The Pennant Winners" plate displays and identifies the entire New York Giants roster from that 83-43 season. Round plate measures 8.5" in diameter and is in great condition for its age and delicate nature, though there is chipping near the top outer rim minor stains throughout the surface. Led by the likes of Hall of Famers Buck Ewing, Roger Connor, John Ward, Jim O'Rourke, Mickey Welch, and more, the Giants not only beat out the Boston Beaneaters (later to become the Braves) for the NL flag, they also outlasted the Brooklyn Bridegrooms (now the Dodgers) by a count of six games to three in the best-of-nine World Series.
