Magnificent 1960 Pittsburgh Pirates World Championship ring with a touching backstory. Gold size 10 ring contains a sizeable genuine diamond mounted in a relief of Forbes Field with Pittsburgh World Champions circling the bezel. Right shank is engraved with Pirates 1960 while the left bears a Pirates P logo surrounded by the name "Joe E. Brown" and "Dad" engraved where the position would be. Under the transformative guidance of General Manager Joe L. Brown (note the different middle initial), the Pittsburgh franchise morphed from cellar-dwellers to 1960 Champs. Joe L. had developed his love for baseball from his dad, Joe E, who was a noted performer in Vaudeville, Broadway, and Hollywood. The elder Brown was actually a highly-rated prospect before suffering an injury and turning his passion to entertainment, and his movies were often baseball-themed, allowing his son access to high levels of the sport which he parlayed into his own brilliant career. This ring was presented by son to father, a representation not only of his father's influence, but also his abiding connection to America's Pastime. Jostens 14k stamped in band, in NRMT condition.
