The 1932 R114 U.S. Caramel 'Presidents' set is considered by many collectors to be one of the most exciting and challenging non-sport sets of all time to complete. Why? The Wiliam McKinley card - one of the rarest and most sought-after non-sport cards known to exist - is THE reason. At 4 times rarer than a T206 Wagner, this card has stymied set builders for close to a century! The U.S. Caramel company, in order to sell more product, offered to give away free boxes of chocolates to anyone returning a completed set of its 'Presidents', and by purposely making the McKinley card incredibly rare, they saved themselves the expense of giving away free chocolate while at the same time encouraging extra sales as youngsters kept buying pack after pack in a futile attempt to complete their sets. This particular example of the Caramel McKinley card - of which a total pop of 10 is known (5 by PSA), uncancelled specimens just 5 (2 by PSA) - is graded PSA 1, mainly because of creases through the face of the card. And yet the orange background remains clean and bright, as does McKinley's image, and the back is equaly clean with no stray marks and bold graphics. The card is truly a pleasure to behold, in much the same way as one would thoroughly enjoy gazing at a T206 Wagner in hand. Ultimately, bid to own this card - the the investment potential of such a card is indisputable, and when will one ever become available again?
