A native of Ontario, Horton rose to fame with the hometown Toronto Maple Leafs and quickly earned a reputation as one of the NHL's best defensemen thanks to his immense physical strength and durability and was still an active player at age 44 when he tragically died in an auto accident. Horton led the Leafs to four Stanley Cups in his two decades with the team, leading to his number "7" being retired and this jersey is significant in that, although he played just two seasons in Buffalo, his number "2" was also retired by the organization, making him the only player in NHL history to have two different numbers in the rafters. He is also known for founding the multi-million dollar doughnut chain which still bears his name in 1964. Stellar piece from one of hockey's great figures.
