Two great American pastimes - baseball and gaming - come together in this very rare circa 1930s Detroit Tigers full-sized pinball machine. The first we have seen or handled of its type, the table remains in EX condition with some scratches and wear, though the back glass and play field are beautiful. Back glass reads "Tigers" along with point values that are lit from behind the glass atop a superb scene of game action below. Play field contains some opportunities for a "Home Run" (also tallied on the back glass), and crisp illustrations of generic players and umpires of the era in action. Also note that flippers were not introduced to pinball until the mid-1940s, so this relic is historically accurate as more of a game of chance than the modern iterations. Manufactured by Chicago Coin Manufacturing, as the Windy City was part of the pinball boom in the early 1930s; Chicago Coin was sold in the 1980s. Surface of the machine is 23x48", height at the front is 40", back is 42", height including back is 66"; wood frame with detachable wood legs. Needs some work to get it working properly - it was working as recently as a few years ago but now needs a professional to go over the mechanisms. Comes with a License card from the City of Detroit dated 1939 for Mechanical Amusement Devices.
