Exceptionally important item in this 1946 World Series award presented to Jackie Robinson, which came directly from the Robinson family in 2001 and includes a Letter of Authenticity from his wife, Rachel. One of the first, or perhaps THE first, professional awards earned by the legend, this silver-colored 2.5x1.75" belt buckle has "JACKIE" in blue lettering below a blue crest with crossed bats and ball. Engraving on back notes, "Stalder Mfg Co, Inglewood, Calif., Union Made." Before joining the Dodgers and breaking the color barrier in 1947, Robinson spent one season with their minor league affiliate in Montreal. After enduring a great deal of racial bias during spring training in 1946, the Robinsons were warmly received in Canada, and Jackie batted .349 in leading the Royals to the International League Championship, paving his way to Brooklyn the following year. Buckle is in NRMT condition, and lot also comes with an album of photos from the 1946 "Little World Series" - note that this album is not from the family but goes nicely with the award as it has a photo of Jackie during the Series in the Montreal dugout.
